Ford 2008 Pickup Trucks Gasoline 21 26
The Ford Ranger seems to have reached the height of its popularity. Today the little pickup truck can’t seem to keep up to its competition in pretty much every category from driving dynamics to available passenger space. It’s 7 foot long box is about 1 foot shy of being useful for most jobs.

Mind you in off road settings this vehicle has the advantage of a shorter wheelbase. The 2008 Ford Ranger Two Wheel Drive’s biggest advantage though is the highest fuel economy of any small sized pickup truck.

Other trucks such as the Nissan Frontier, Dodge Dakota and Toyota Tacoma are more enjoyable to drive on the pavement and provide more cab-room with more amenities and safety features.

There are three choices of engines for the 2008 Ranger:
  • Base engine: 2.3-liter inline-4 with 143 horsepower and 154 pound-feet of torque.
  • Middle engine: 3.0-liter V6 rated for 148 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque.
  • Top engine: 4.0-liter overhead-cam V6 rated for 207 hp and 238 lb-ft of torque.
If you’re looking for maximum fuel economy then go with the 2.3 liter.
